IU School of Informatics
If the time ever comes for Chris Hardin's life to become a multimedia production, the media arts and science major in the School of Informatics plans to be ready with his twin passions: music and technology.
The senior, a graduate of Pike High School, has been immersed in music for much of his life, first as a singer in the prestigious Indianapolis Children's Choir, then in jazz band and wind ensemble in high school, and now in music production at IUPUI.
In Informatics, Chris also has had the opportunity to hone his skills in all realms of video production, and this fall had an opportunity to intern at the popular Oranje07 event, a six-year-old blend of artistic and musical performances and exhibits that has become a "must-see" event on the Indianapolis arts calendar.
Chris has carved out an intriguing legacy on the IUPUI campus, as well.
He's eagerly involved himself in student life, in Greek life (with the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity), the Black Student Union and volunteer opportunities such as the Martin Luther King Jr. "Day-On" of Service and IUPUI's traditional "Jam the Jaguars Bus" Thanksgiving food drive.
He excels in the classroom, ranking as one of IUPUI's "Top 100" students in 2006-07. Chris also has shared his experiences with younger IUPUI students.
He is a long-time member of the "OTEAM," the nickname for the Orientation Services program that helps incoming students adjust to life at IUPUI, and has been a mentor for the campus's First Year Seminar Mentoring program.
