| Overview | The Indiana University Master of Health Administration program has a long and distinguished history of preparing students to assume management and leadership positions in health care organizations. Graduates serve in leadership positions in all facets of health care including health systems, hospitals, physician practices, HMO's, health insurance, and consulting. Many graduates serve as chief executive officers of their organizations. The MHA program prepares students for their careers by combining a strong educational program with opportunities to gain a variety of practical experiences in the health care field. The program includes courses that develop key business skills as well as an awareness of various aspects of the dynamic health care environment. Advanced courses include project work for health care organizations. Students may acquire additional practical experience through paid summer internships, our mentor program which matches individual students with local health care executives, and health-related part-time positions. The programmatic competencies integrated into the program are: background information on the health care system; leadership/professionalism; human resources management; health law/ethics; quantitative skills; financial skills; information skills; decision making; implementing change; and personal development. |
