| Overview | Political Science offers students the opportunity to study power and government in its many intriguing forms. We offer courses in American politics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory and public policy, which together offer a well-rounded education in the structure and processes of government, and in the character and effects of politics. We also offer a certificate program for students planning to become paralegals, and a pre-law program and legal studies minor designed to help those planning to go on into law; Political Science is the favored route at IUPUI for students preparing for law school. Our MA program is the only one in the United States that focuses specifically on state and local politics. Designed in part to exploit IUPUI's proximity to the seats of Indiana state government and Indianapolis city government, the MA is a 33-hour program that includes courses in urban, state and local government. As well as providing a sound foundation for those working in government, and planning a career in government, it is also a launch-pad for students planning to go on to complete a Ph.D in Political Science elsewhere. |
