EMTs (basic and paramedic) determine the nature and the extent of victims’ medical and trauma-related emergencies and provide initial emergency care. EMT-Paramedics administer medications, supply intravenous therapy, perform heart monitoring, and provide other life-saving interventions for the victims of acute illness or injury. The EMT-Basic is the entry level of the emergency medical field. The EMT-Paramedic is the advanced practitioner with more independence. |
