Indianapolis boasts 169 city parks of more than 10,000 acres and almost 65 miles of public greenway trails.
White River State Park
Campus is adjacent to White River State Park, a favorite destination for tourists, Indianapolis residents, IUPUI students, and faculty. The park's walkways and trails are typically filled with walkers, joggers, cyclists, and inline skaters enjoying this oasis in the middle of the city. The park is filled with attractions, including the Indianapolis Zoo, the NCAA Hall of Champions (inside the NCAA headquarters), Indiana State Museum, White River Gardens, Indiana Historical Society, Eiteljorg Museum, Victory Field, The Lawn (site of live concerts), U.S.S. Indianapolis memorial, Medal of Honor Memorial, public sculpture, green spaces, and more!

Indy Greenways
Over 65 miles of paved trails have emerged in Indianapolis in the past several years, providing thousands of residents dedicated places for running, walking, biking and skating. The River Walk adjacent to campus (and the Campus Apartments on River Walk) is part of a 5.5 mile trail along the White River. Another popular and vibrant trail is the 15.5 mile Monon Trail which connects Carmel to downtown.

Indy Parks
The Indy Parks network serves over 4.5 million people annually and includes 169 parks, 8 greenways, 13 golf courses, and 22 pools and aquatic centers. The Eagle Creek park is one of the largest city parks in the nation, with 1,400 acres of water for boating, fishing and swimming and, on the 3,900 acres of land surrounding the reservoir, bird sanctuaries, fitness courses, nature centers, and other activities.
