Get Engaged
So you're smart and you're motivated. What's there to do?! Find out what opportunities are out there, find your niche in the community and start to actually make a difference. Be the change, rise to the challenge, and make your impact!
There are many ways to connect with the Common Theme and change our campus, community and world.
It's hard to keep track of all of the events on campus on sustainability, local food, green jobs, energy security and other Common Theme topics. Ever missed an event that you would have LOVED to attend but had NO idea about? Don't that just nip your sustainably harvested cotton britches?! Keep up-to-date on events with the Common Theme Calendar, and contact us to add your events, too.
You can support the Common Theme through student organizations. Join the contests and submit an essay on Deep Economy or a proposal to make IUPUI more sustainable. There are also Teaching Tools and many other ways to get engaged.

Win some green by helping IUPUI go green!
The deadline for the fall Common Green Contest is quickly approaching.

Since happiness has increased with income in the past, we assumed it would do so in the future. However, it is a fallacy. McKibben’s aim in Deep Economy is relatively modest. It is to change minds, to present a new mental model of the possible. He suggests more progress toward local economies. His analysis of localization for food, radio, and energy, can be applied to almost any commodity. If we start thinking a little differently we can do the same for our democracy.
