A Wake Up Call

The latest earthquake in California was yet another reminder for us that Mother Nature can strike in an instant, leaving little time for people who aren’t prepared to get prepared. Since early spring, Americans have been faced with an onslaught of severe weather from tornadoes, wildfires, flooding, and earthquakes. And some of the major flooding, destructive tornadoes, and even a significant earthquake happened in our backyard just this year! Many people in Indianapolis, Columbus, Bloomington, and other areas are continuing to suffer the after-effects of the widespread flooding and severe weather in June.

IUPUI Receives New Emergency Preparedness Grant

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is among the 13 recipients of a new federal grant to help universities and colleges implement plans to prevent and respond to campus emergencies.

IUPUI will receive a $448,890 Emergency Management for Higher Education (EMHE) grant. The U.S. Department of Education awarded EMHE grants totaling $5.2 million to 13 universities and colleges nationwide.
