Government Relations
The Office of External Affairs serves as the primary point of contact for Government Relations at IUPUI. Strategic planning and routine engagements with government officials and agencies is conducted in tandem with Indiana University Federal Relations and State Relations offices.
Federal Government
Government Relations at IUPUI serves as the primary link to the federal government. Managing issues of importance to IUPUI, Government Relations works closely with IU Federal Relations, on issues before Congress, the White House, and federal agencies which affect IU and higher education.

State Government
Government Relations at IUPUI also serves the liaison between Indiana University and the legislative and executive branches of state government, including the Indiana General Assembly, Office of the Governor, and other units of state government. As a member of the state relations team Government Relations also works closely with other universities and higher education groups in Indiana.

Last fall, Congress passed the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act to shed light on the role lobbyists play influencing federal legislation. Indiana University has revised our policy guidelines to insure compliance.

Local Government
Government Relations at IUPUI serves as the primary contact for local government. Government Relations manages relationships between the campus and Central Indiana elected officials in Marion County and the surrounding 8 counties including the Office of the Mayor of Indianapolis, City-County Council and associated units of city governments.
