Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis is an urban research university that offers the most comprehensive range of degree programs in the state.

Our faculty lead the world in research from the life sciences to the liberal arts; in the professions of medicine, health and rehabilitation sciences, dentistry, law, nursing, education, journalism, and social work; and in interdisciplinary collaborations on studies in philanthropy, urban policy, the environment, biomedical engineering, cancer research, informatics, motorsports engineering, forensic and investigative sciences, and more.

The IIA works toward growing Indiana’s bioscience economy and increasing the competitiveness of the state’s workforce by bringing together Indiana’s research universities, biomedical and biotechnology firms, health and life sciences organizations, local economic development organizations, and state government.

Teaching and learning are central to campus life. Our faculty have developed award-winning programs that help students succeed in achieving their academic goals. IUPUI is nationally recognized for service learning, undergraduate research, and providing effective first-year experiences for students. U.S. News & World Report's regularly cites our learning communities among their “programs to look for” in choosing among the nation’s college and universities. In its 2008 college rankings, U.S. News names IUPUI as one of 70 “up-and-coming schools” judged by peers to be “firmly focused on improving the job they’re doing.”
