Thomas A. King is president of Thomas A. King Consulting, a consulting practice he established after retiring in March, 2005 from Eli Lilly and Company. His areas of work include fund raising, organizational effectiveness, economic development, planning and board development. During his 10 years with Lilly he was manager of contributions, community and guest relations and served as president of the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation. Prior to joining Lilly, he was director of civic affairs and community development at the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and became president of the Chamber in 1979, serving the organization in that capacity until 1991 when he became vice president of corporate affairs for IPALCO Enterprises, Inc., the unregulated holding company of the Indianapolis electric utility. He left IPALCO to become president of Walker Research in 1995.

Mr. King is past chairman of the board of directors of Goodwill Enterprises of Central Indiana, Inc. and Big Brothers of Greater Indianapolis, and is an emeritus member of the board of trustees of Butler University. He also serves on the boards of The Indy Partnership where he is the current board chairman, the Indiana Sports Corporation where he is the chairman elect, and the Center for Leadership Development.
