Alpha Blackburn is president and CEO of Blackburn Architects, Inc. She is a national award-winning designer, distinguished civic leader and former television talk show host. She currently serves as the chairperson of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission and participates in numerous activities that reflect her social and civic leadership.

She is a board member of the Indianapolis Arts Council, American Pianists Association and the Indianapolis Symphony Society. Alpha Blackburn also serves on the board of trustees of the Indianapolis Museum of Art and is chairperson of the board of the Indiana Museum of African American History. She has contributed to many community efforts including the Women's Fund of Indianapolis, United Negro College Fund Telethon and the Cultural Development Commission.

Ms. Blackburn is a Distinguished Alumna of Howard University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in 1961 and a Master of Fine Arts in 1963.
