Academic Unit: IU School of Liberal Arts
Degree(s): Bachelor of Arts
Certificate(s): Undergraduate Certificate in Journalism
Overview: Whether working in traditional print, broadcast, public relations or online journalism, students must be prepared to pursue their dream jobs and be equipped to excel in them. And while students may follow their interests, they also must have broad skills to compete in the job market. Photojournalists must also be good writers, and reporters must know how to collect video. Designers must understand news, and all journalists must be able to convey their messages for Web products. The undergraduate curriculum exposes students to theories and ideas but also provides hands-on experience in doing journalism. Whether in classwork or working in campus media, students will practice what they learn in class, adding to their skill sets along the way.
