Student athletes champion community
Whether they're partnering with Colts quarterback Andrew Luck to help patients at Riley Hospital for Children or collecting food for the PAWS Pantry on campus, the members of IUPUI's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) are committed to working to make their community a better place. "Our athletes get involved and contribute to the community-minded organization that we are," said SAAC vice president Miguel Lozano.
iServe connects students, campus, and city
As part of IUPUI's Weeks of Welcome, first-year students had the opportunity to connect with the Indianapolis community by participating in the iServe volunteer event. More than 230 students volunteered in various projects around the city. "We want them to learn that engaging in the community is part of being a Jaguar," said Jennifer Halford of IUPUI's Center for Service and Learning.
IUPUI receives award for exemplary diversity initiatives
For the third year in a row, IUPUI has been selected to receive the 2014 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. The campus was also recognized for its ability to embrace a broad definition of diversity on campus including gender, race, ethnicity, veterans, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community.Read more
