A message from Chancellor Charles Bantz
I'm pleased to report that the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has reaffirmed accreditation for Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, including our regional education center, Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, through 2022-2023.
All public and private colleges and universities must be accredited by one of six regional associations in order to be eligible to receive financial aid from the federal government. IUPUI has been accredited by the commission since 1972 and is reviewed every 10 years for reaffirmation of accreditation.
As a part of this decennial reaffirmation process, we sought public comments that addressed substantive matters related to the quality of IUPUI and its academic programs, hosted a team of HLC evaluators last November who closely examined all aspects of campus operations, and engaged in an thorough four-year self-study process that produced an extensive online report for review.
Not only were our efforts praised, but the HLC did not offer a single recommendation for follow-up action. The site team said, "IUPUI has a national stature and is known for strengths in teaching, learning, assessment, first-year experience, service learning and community engagement," and "IUPUI excels at identifying and providing service to its constituents."
My thanks to the campus and Indianapolis community for their time, transparency and participation in the reaccreditation process. We were pleased to receive the official notification of our continued accreditation, and remain committed to continuous improvement of teaching, research and community engagement.
