Accessing the IUIS

Student Systems

NOTE: All icons are representative only. You should read your screen to determine the exact items you need.

Introduction

You do not need an assigned UserID or password to access basic information on IUIS, a computer in Bloomington containing a wide variety of administrative and student data. However, certain information will require an identification number and PIN due to the secure content of some of the data.

Accessing IUIS from Home using Kermit

Refer to Accessing the Mainframes Using Kermit for an explanation of the dial-up numbers and instruction for connecting to the mainframes.

Accessing IUIS from Home using PPP

There are two basic ways of accessing IUIS from home. The first requires a basic Telnet application. The second requires a special 3270 Emulator.

Establish a connection with IUPUI Dial-In as described in Network Access from Home.

METHOD 1
- From within your Telnet program:
  Type: iuis.ucs.indiana.edu, or CLICK HERE
  CONTINUE
METHOD 2
NOTE: You will need a 3270 Emulator program in order to access the IUIS system through this method.
- From within your 3270 Emulator program:
  Type: iuis3270.ucs.indiana.edu or CLICK HERE.

Accessing IUIS from a Networked Computer

From Windows, DOUBLE CLICK

From a Macintosh
Choose : IUIS@UCS
or
DOUBLE CLICK then type the name of the host: iuis3270.ucs.indiana.edu, or CLICK HERE.

Return to Menu

Logging on IUIS

At the UserID prompt, type: guest
Press ENTER
You should now be at the University Service Environment (USE) menu,
To continue working with the Student Systems refer to:
- Checking Grades
- IUCAT
- Registration By Computer
- List of Courses Taken

Return to Menu

Logging off IUIS

At the USE/STUDENT (upper left corner) menu, type: M
Press ENTER
From the main IUIS menu, type: K
Press ENTER
Finishing the Session
- If you are using Windows, choose:
  SESSION : Exit
- If you are using Macintosh, choose:
  FILE : Quit
