What happens if I do not maintain the minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)?

Each semester that you are enrolled at IUPUI and are receiving scholarship funding your academic transcript, including your cumulative GPA will be reviewed.

• If at anytime your GPA falls to a 1.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) or below your scholarship funds will be retracted immediately resulting in repayment of your scholarship funds for that previous semester. In addition, your scholarship will be revoked for all subsequent semesters. Once your cumulative GPA has been raised to again meet the minimum requirement for your particular scholarship you may submit an IUPUI Student Scholarship Appeal to have your scholarship reinstated for the duration of the original scholarship agreement period.

• If your cumulative GPA falls below the minimum GPA required for the maintenance of your scholarship, but remains higher than a 1.0, your scholarship will be retracted for subsequent semesters, but no repayment of previous semester scholarship funds will be required. Once your cumulative GPA increases to meet the minimum requirement you may submit an IUPUI Student Scholarship Appeal to have your scholarship reinstated for the duration of the original scholarship agreement period.

• If your cumulative GPA falls to within three tenths of a point (.30) of your minimum required GPA you will be placed on a one semester scholarship probationary period. If at the end of this grace period your GPA does not meet the minimum required for your scholarship your funds will be retracted for the subsequent semesters. Once your GPA has met the minimum required for your scholarship you may submit an IUPUI Student Scholarship Appeal to have your scholarship reinstated for the duration of the original scholarship agreement period.

What happens to my scholarship if I officially withdraw from any of my courses?

If you are considering withdrawing from any course, you must notify the Office of Student Scholarships immediately. Withdrawing from any courses without notifying the Office of Student Scholarships may result in the retraction of your scholarship for subsequent semesters. In addition, it may result in either partial or full repayment of scholarship funds for the semester which you dropped.

What if I totally withdraw from my courses?

If you are considering withdrawing from all courses you must notify the Office of Student Scholarships immediately. Totally withdrawing from all courses during the semester will result in the retraction of your scholarship for subsequent semesters. In addition, it will result in full repayment of scholarship funds for the semester that you dropped. If you must drop due to unforeseen events you may submit an IUPUI Student Scholarship Appeal  along with supporting documentation.

What if I do not officially withdraw from all my courses?

If you register for courses but never attend or stop attending, you will automatically receive either an F or FN. As a result your scholarship will be retracted effective the semester you ceased to attend courses. This will result in repayment of scholarship funds, and the retraction of your scholarship for subsequent semesters.

Can my Scholarship be reinstated?

If your scholarship has been retracted for any reason, you may submit an IUPUI Student Scholarship Appeal . You must submit a statement of appeal stating the reason(s) why you failed to meet the minimum requirements to maintain your scholarship. In addition, you must include all necessary supporting documentation. A decision on the appeal will be available within 3 to 5-business days.
