NIH Extends Deadline for Extramural Loan Repayment Program The purpose of the extension of the NIH Loan Repayment Program is to accommodate the academic calendar and allow additional qualified health professionals an opportunity to apply. This deadline extension allows extra time for applicants to complete the forms that were originally sent to researchers with an original deadline date of November 30, 2002. The extended deadline date will not affect the date applicants are notified of funding decisions. Additional information and application forms for the new deadline date of Jan. 31, 2003 may be accessed at the NIH Loan Repayment Program Web site at http://www.lrp.nih.gov. Call the Loan Repayment Program Helpline at 866-849-4047 if you have questions regarding the Loan Repayment Program application process, or send an e-mail to LRP@NIH.GOV. Holiday Schedule Reminder: If assistance is needed from Research and Sponsored Programs, the following Holiday schedule will be in effect: Christmas 2002 and New Year 2003 Holiday Closing Information for Research and Graduate Education and Research and Sponsored Programs The IUPUI Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs will close at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 and reopen Thursday, January 2, 2003 with regular business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional information is provided for the following Research and Sponsored Programs offices: Sponsored Program Administration Proposals with a postmark or receipt date of January 2 or earlier must be received by R&SP no later than Thursday, December 19, 2002. Proposals with a postmark or receipt date of January 3 or 4 must be received no later than Monday, December 23, 2002. Proposals will not be processed during the holiday period.

IU Sponsored Programs Offices Host First Research Symposium The Symposium, focusing on research education activities, discussions, and presentations, was attended by seventy five IU faculty, students, and staff. The "Indiana University Research Symposium Spring 2003" is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2003 from 8:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the IUPUI University Library Lilly Auditorium. If you're involved in the conduct of research, don't miss the "Indiana University Research Symposium Spring 2003" presented by the IU Sponsored Programs Offices. This is your opportunity to connect with colleagues, other administrators and researchers, to share ideas and experiences.
