Grants for the NIH “Roadmap” Initiative The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education will fund 3 to 5 one-time grants of up to $60,000. The purpose of the grants is to stimulate submission to and increase grant awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) “Roadmap” initiative (http://nihroadmap.nih.gov/). Proposals must be collaborative and include faculty PIs from 2 or more IUPUI schools. Proposals will be evaluated based on scientific merit and how well they fit into the “Roadmap” initiative. The Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education will make the awards after receiving input from a faculty peer review panel and the Deans. The deadline for submission of proposals to the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs is April 15 by 4:30 PM. Awards will be announced in the week of May 16. Additional information (including requirements, proposal format and finding collaborators) is available on the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs website (http://www.iupui.edu/%7Eresgrad/spon/nih_roadmap/nih_roadmap_initiative.htm). Research Support Fund Grant (RSFG) The Research Support Fund Grant (RSFG) program was developed to enhance the research and scholarship focus of the IUPUI academic mission. Ideally, the RSFG serves as support to initiate a research or scholarly activity project that should lead to external funding that will include F&A payments. Grants will normally range from $5,000 to $30,000. The grant period will normally not exceed 12 months. Application materials must be submitted with a signed Internal Grants Face Page/Route Sheet to the Sponsored Program Development Director, UL 1140, IUPUI, by 5:00 p.m. on April 15. Additional information is available on the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs website (http://www.iupui.edu/%7Eresgrad/spon/rsfg/rsfg_guidelines.htm). |

Frontiers in the Arts and Humanities Program New Frontiers in the Arts and Humanities is the first year of a five-year program. The goal of the program is to help Indiana University faculty members to expand their work into disciplinary or interdisciplinary frontiers that promise new insights into the human condition or pursue innovative directions in artistic creativity. A yearly theme of broad and topical interest will provide intellectual focus for the program. The theme for 2004-05 is "The Creative Process" (this is consistent with the plans for Artsweek 2005 -- http://www.artsweek.indiana.edu). This program has four different funding categories: New Frontiers Grants (ranging from $20,000 to $50,000); New Perspectives Grants (up to $20,000); Visiting Visionary Scholars Grants (ranging from $20,000 to $40,000); and Exploration Traveling Fellowship Grants (up to $2,500). Additional information is available on the IU Research web site (http://www.research.indiana.edu/funding/newfron/ahumanity.html). |
