Are You Considering a Faculty Career? Attend the Jan 18 PFF Orientation
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) has a special program, the IUPUI Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Program, to help prepare graduate and postdoctoral students to secure academic positions. The PFF program is probably one of the best-kept secrets on the campus. Help us change that. Spread the word about the upcoming orientation session that will orient participants on how this program strives to compliment and enhance departmental programs that prepare interested students for faculty careers and academic life.

R&SP Announces Mar 15 Internal Funding Deadline
The following is an overview of Research and Sponsored Programs (R&SP) current internal grants for two international programs. International Development Fund (IDF): The IDF Grant was developed to enhance the international focus of the IUPUI academic mission. Ideally, the IDF grant serves as venture capital to stimulate additional funding for international activities from extramural sources, which provide indirect costs recovery in the areas of research, teaching, and/or service.

Overseas Sabbatical/Project Study (OSPS): IUPUI's International Strategic Plan calls for increased collaboration with international partner institutions. The OSPS Grant is being made available to support continued development of relationships in line with campus initiatives.
Office for Professional Development Scholarly and Creative Activity Program (SCAP) Announces Mar 15 Deadline for Internal Funding Programs
SCAP Internal Funding Programs include the Gateway (Special Focus) Course Grants to provide support for efforts to understand and improve student learning in Gateway courses; the Grant-in-Aid for Special Populations pertaining to academic staff, associate (part-time) faculty and lecturer, women faculty, and minority faculty development; and General Grant-in-Aid for research, teaching, and service.

Combined HIPAA Security/21 CFR Part 11 Training Scheduled
In the December 2004 issue of the R&SP Communicator, http://www.iupui.edu/%7Erspcommu/2004/nl-december-04.htm, the Office of Compliance Services announced that additional HIPAA Security/21 CFR Part 11 training dates would be scheduled. The following are the additional training dates: Tuesday, February 8, 2005, 12:00 – 1:30 PM, ROC Auditorium and Friday, February 18, 2005, 8:00 – 9:30 AM, ROC Auditorium.

Jan 25 IU National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health 2004-2005 Monthly Lecture Series
What: Mark Pescovitz, MD, Professor of Surgery and Microbiology/Immunology, “Organ Transplants”. This lecture series made possible by an unrestricted educational grant from Merck. The Indiana University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 hours of Category 1 credit per lecture towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
