| New
NSF Proposal Guidelines The National Science Foundation (NSF) has published a revised Grant Proposal Guide effective for proposals submitted on or after June 1, 2003. The Guide can be accessed at http://www.nsf.gov/pubsys/ods/getpub.cfm?gpg. Pages 4 and 5 summarize the significant changes. Those preparing proposals for NSF should be sure to review the changes and follow all new instructions. NIH Clarification on Delivery Address for Proposals The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued a clarification concerning the zip code that should be used when submitting proposals. The 20817 zip code should be used only for courier deliveries such as Federal Express or UPS. Proposals sent using the United States Postal Services, whether Express or regular mail, must use 20892. NIH Modifies Policy on Submission of Revised Applications The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has eliminated the two-year restriction on the receipt of revised applications. IFRA is an organizational network of research administrators from accredited institutions of higher education within the state of Indiana. The 2003 Annual Meeting is a good opportunity to network with others who also work with grants and contracts. IRB Instruction Packet Guidance A revised Institutional Review Board (IRB) Instruction Packet was introduced in the March 2003 R&SP Communicator Special Edition. At that time, specific guidance on the use of the new summary safeguard statement (SSS) was not offered for the submission of amendments and continuing reviews. | New
ERA Routing Form Upcoming Release In mid June, a new Electronic Research Administration (ERA) Routing Form will be released using Java code. This is a redesign effort as well as a conversion from one coding language to another. The Routing Form will soon have the same look and feel as the Budget Module. The next issue of the R&SP Communicator will have a more detailed listing of the new features. Sign Up to Be an ERA Tester WE NEED TESTERS! Prior to each major Electronic Research Administration (ERA) release, we ask the user community to help us find bugs with the new functionality. One session on each campus will be held at the end of May.
