Executive Committee Reconsiders Stance on Recruitment Changes Recently, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Executive Committee voted to revise the amendment guidelines to reflect that minor changes in recruitment methodology (e.g., adding print advertisements to a recruitment strategy) would now be considered, in most cases, a minor amendment, thus not requiring full Board review. However, if drastic changes are made to recruitment methodology (e.g., to add outside sources to assist in recruitment) the Committee determined that such significant changes should still be reviewed at a full IRB meeting, rather than via the expedited review process. Last Chance for HIPAA Research Compliance Training Due to popular demand, a final HIPAA Research Compliance Training session will be presented on May 7, 2003, 12:00 - 1:30 PM, in the Riley Outpatient Center Rooms A & B. Complete Details Protocol Deviations: New Form and Policy The new Protocol Deviation Form (introduced in the 03/03 version of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Instruction Packet) should only be used for the “immediate” reporting (see form for reporting timeline) of unanticipated protocol deviations that are significant enough that the investigator should not wait until the time of continuing review to notify the IRB.
