Over the years, the Center has undertaken a number of research and teaching projects. An example is the recently published exploration of the relationship between religion and higher education on American college campuses, Religion on Campus (Conrad Cherry, Amanda Porterfield, and Betty DeBerg, authors).
Presently the Center is overseeing two initiatives. The "Young Scholars in American Religion Program" is a multi-year project to assist early-career scholars in developing their teaching skills and research agendas. The "Centers and Institutes Project," meanwhile, brings together those organizations dedicated to the academic study of religion in the U.S. in order to discuss common problems and solutions, as well as to identify areas for cooperative efforts.
We continue to explore other areas of potential research in the relation between religion and other aspects of American culture. As these projects materialize, they will be announced on this web site and in the "Newsletter."
