What is the Passport?

Passport is a coordinated program between Ivy Tech Community College-Central Indiana and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Passport strives to increase course and degree articulations between institutions, maintains advising offices at both campuses, offers cooperative student services, facilitates shared access to student records, offers IUPUI Passport scholarships and promotes student life programs. The goal of the Passport office is to make the transfer of credit and/or degrees between the two institutions as seamless as possible.

Can Ivy Tech students use IUPUI resources?

Ivy Tech students are eligible to obtain an IUPUI student ID (Jagtag) which gives access campus activities and discounts:

How do I know if my credits will transfer?

Check the Passport website for course and degree articulations. Visit the Passport Advising Office at Ivy Tech located in the Student Services area and speak with an advisor or call 917-5720 and make an appointment. IUPUI students should check with their departmental advisor.

On the transfer list of courses what does #1XX or #2XX mean?

IUPUI will accept the course and give undistributed credit. Each department determines if or how this course will be used. DO NOT assume undistributed credit will automatically transfer to your degree.

Visit the Ivy Tech Admissions office and meet with an Admissions officer. You should enroll as non-degree seeking. Check to make sure you have taken the necessary prerequisites.

Will my course automatically be transferred to my IUPUI transcript?

You must visit the IUPUI Admissions office and fill-out a request form that indicates adding the Ivy Tech class to your transcript.

Will the grade transfer and effect my GPA?

The credits transfer but the grade does not.

If I failed a course at IUPUI can I repeat it at Ivy Tech or vice versa?

No, you must repeat the class at the same institution where you originally took it.

Can I use my Financial Aid?

Visit the Financial Aid office at your HOME school and request a Passport Financial Assistance Agreement form. Follow the instructions on the sheet and obtain all necessary signatures. Students MUST be enrolled in at least 3 credits at both intuitions to be eligible.
