Intensive Summer English Program
Thirteen college students from Oyama City, Japan partipated in
this two-week intensive summer program. Students are immersed
in the English language and culture through homestays, classroom
work, and an overnight trip to various sites in Amish country
in northern Indiana.

Intensive Summer English Program
Twenty-four college women from Tokyo, Japan participate in this
three-week, total immersion, Indianapolis summer program each
year. Cultural experiences make English study come alive: this
successful program blends classroom instruction with homestays,
guided activities, and community exploration. The program, in
its twelfth year, gives students a rich slice of midwestern American
culture.

Ministry of Finance
English for Specific Purposes Program
Nine to fourteen officials from
various provincial and municipal Ministry of Finance offices throughout
the People's Republic of China study English and English for Business
Purposes on the IUPUI campus for six months. This is the first
program in the Midwest to host Chinese government officials and
to offer such specific training.

National Polytechnique
Intensive ESP Program
Twenty-two university students from Côte
d'Ivoire participated in this three-week total immersion Indianapolis
fall program in 2001. The students were from the capital city
of Abidjan and were working on five year degrees and studying
various aspects of business. After graduation, many have assumed
management positions in various African or international companies.
