"In the absence of any extended family in the area, balancing work, reading, call (for both of us), and nurturing two young children is a daily challenge and nearly impossible without a program like IU that supports and encourages family. In addition to the clinical exposure and academic support that the program boasts, its greatest asset is its unspoken caring and love of family." -Jermeliah Martin, PGY1 |

"Since my goal is to practice general pediatrics in a rural setting, I looked at pediatric programs that could offer a large exposure to rare pediatric diseases yet have strong "non-tertiary" components to give balance to a good general peds training. The program here at IU--with Riley, Wishard, and Methodist Hospitals plus the community clinics--has exceeded my goals. It is nice to be at a program where you, and not the program, are the limiting factor in your education. And as I have lived all of my life in the west, I have been pleased to discover the camping, hiking, and other outdoor recreation opportunities nearby." - Kelly Anderson, PGY3 |

"The Pediatric residency program is supportive, and I was able to design a truly unique training plan. Dr. Rushton, our program director, was behind me the whole way through my successful application to join the American Board of Pediatrics Integrated Research Pathway. This allowed me to spend 12 months, during my 3 years of pediatric residency, conducting congenital cardiovascular surgery research. Beyond this, the Morris Green Academic Scholars Program gave me the support to attend and present at several national meetings, helping me to achieve many professional goals. All of this made me a very competitive fellowship candidate, and I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish while receiving excellent training in clinical pediatrics." Cindy Myers- 2007 Grad

" During my pediatrics’ training at Indiana University, I was able to explore for the first time international medicine in Kenya, community-based learning and advocacy, and health outcomes research. These experiences led me into my fellowship in children’s health services research and ongoing research in our partnership in Kenya related to children’s adherence to HIV medicines."
